Seond-placed Bath came to Vicarage Road hoping to gain another 4 points, but went away with just a losing bonus, as Saracens held on for an important 26-20 win, confirming their 4th place in the table.

Despite a shakey first half hour, Saracens picked themselves up from trailing 6-13 to record a fantastic 45-16 win against European giants Biarritz on Saturday. The Basques are now out of the Heineken Cup, and barring disaster in Glasgow next Friday, Sarries should be into the Quarterfinals as group winners, for the first time in their history.

Saracens suffered a narrow defeat in front of their biggest home crowd for over 10 years (17,200+) as they went down 19-22 to Newcastle Falcons on Sunday. They trailed for most of the game, plulling one point in front late on, but then squandered their chance of victory.

Despite atrocious weather conditions for thes start of the match, Saracens Heineken Cup game produced eleven tries, ten from the Men In Black and one from Viadana. Saracens won convincingly by 71-7, the points coming from 10 tries, 9 conversions and a penalty, and earning them a bonus point before half time.

Saracens opening Heineken Cup match of the season was a try-strewn affair. The Men In Black were dominant early on, but a late fight back from Glasgow meant they only just won by two points, 33-31. At least it earned them a bonus point win, which could be important later on in the group stages.

After a gap of nearly two months while I was recovering from a broken elbow, I finally got to see some live rugby on Sunday, when Saracens thrashed Bristolin their Anglo-Welsh Cup tie at Vicarage Road. Sarries scored 5 tries and earned themselves a bonus point win to go top of their group.

I've just returned from a great trip to the opening ceremony, and first games of the Rugby World Cup, where Argentina beat France and England just managed a win over the USA. The atmosphere was fantastic, with fans from all countries having a great time.

As a sendoff for the England squad, heading to the World Cup, fans were able to meet the team in Regent's Park on Sunday. As well as signing autographs, the players were on hand to pass on some tips during kid's coaching sessions.

The twelve Premiership teams slugged it out at Twickenham yesterday, in the Middlesex Sevens tournament. The final was close, when Newcastle snatched victory from Worcester 20-19.

The French team won the first of two World Cup warmup games at Twickenham yesterday, beating England 21-15.
